This two-volume series fills a void in providing much needed course material for students sitting the CAPE® examination in Food and the Environment and students pursuing Agriculture and Food Production at the diploma or undergraduate level.

The authors' main focus is on production systems and practices that sustain soil fertility, ecosystems and people. They consistently advocate crop and livestock production techniques that require an agro-ecological approach aimed at reducing the use of water, chemicals and pesticides and the preservation of the region's soils.
